The above subject title links to an article on a study about the effects of profanity, published in Medical Journal of Pediatrics. Did we see this coming?
I think this is a no-brainer for any active mormon. That is why we teach to use clean language from the Strength of Youth pamphlet. That is why the church encourages us to watch uplifting movies and television shows... this is just another example where finally there is some scientific research behind standards that we (as a church) have been living for decades. Additionally (and this is my personal belief) people who use profanity with any regularity just show how dim-witted they are. They can't figure out how else to express how they feel so they use vague, over-used, under-expressive words.... real smart. NOT!
